Stan's Poem

Caroline and Jeremy
Told us last November
About a high adventure
Which they will long remember

And so it was, the end of May
The Hilkers joined the fun
And sailed the fabled islands
For some diving and some sun

Stan Hilker with Dominique and Alex - On Board the "Jean Baptiste"

We left from Mactan Island
Having had a breakfast feast
And braved the calm, clear waters
Aboard trusty "Jean Baptiste"

We all found seats of comfort
And had a small libation
while watching perfect gems slide by
From this lovely island nation

Danielle and Dominique - On board the "Jean Baptiste"

Kevin set about his task
With camera and tripods
Whilst Oliver and sweet Eileen
Enjoyed their matching I-pods

Our first stop was Alona beach
On picturesque Panglao
We toured the famous Chocolate Hills
And ate organic cow

Sylvia - Cabilao Island, Bohol

On Tuesday came the younger set
Of Aidan and his mates
To join us for the mystic isle
And thus entwine our fates

Captain Prawn outdid himself
With a speech that was quite jolly
He'd read a book on Siquijor....
And pointed out it's folly

The Hilker Clan - Negros Oriental, Apo Island

Siquijor, the magic place
Held symbols, some of phallics,
But even bolted church doors
Could not defy our Alex!

Danielle and Dominique, meanwhile
Preferred to tag along
With Micah on their paddleboats
all pow'rd by papa Bong

Mercy played the mother hen
And kept us all in lotion
I never cease to be amazed
At her love, and her devotion

The sandy beach at Coco Grove
Came off a little shoddy,
But we all felt it soon improved
With Sylv's vivacious body

The dive at Apo island
Was enjoyed by our Comptessa
And even got some rave reviews
From Allen and Vanessa

Pilar's Delicious Buffet - Negros Oriental, Apo Island

The evening spent at Bonbonon
Was something quite bizarre
But hosted well by master chefs
All trained by dear Pilar

Nigel's a terrific lad,
He drinks beers by the crates
And has a rather motly crew
Of quite eclectic mates

Conversation ranged last night
From former wives to crickets
I found myself engaged, alas!
By an old chap, plagued with rickets

But just like tides, the evening passed
And brought a brand new day,
In time we were once more aboard
And safely on our way

The Hilker family took a vote,
our feelings seldom vary,
Heartfelt thanks go out, indeed
To our friends at Banca-Safari!
